Video:
---------
Requires VGA card supporting Vesa 1.2, color depth is fixed at 256 colors.

To use linear frame buffer you need Vesa 2.0 or get the universal VBE driver
from Scitech (UNIVBE 5.1 or 5.2).The web address is www.scitechsoft.com

Also find included a free 2.0 VBE only for S3 based cards, s3vbe302.zip,
extract and run it with:
s3vbe20 vbe linear /low.

Sound:
----------
Uses any port, irq,DMA of a Soundblaster, must have BLASTER environment string.
Should work with Gravis ultrasound, must have ULTRA environment string.

Keys:
---------

1 cut throttle
2 throttle down
3 throttle up
4 max throttle

A toggles afterburner

space fires weapon
return  selects weapon

numpad 8 pitch down
numpad 2 pitch up
numpad 4 bank left
numpad 6 bank right
numpad 5 center stick

numpad 3 rudder left
numpad 1 rudder right

Y flaps up
H flaps down

B ground/air brakes
G gear up/down

L launch opponent
P launch ally

T select next air/ground target

R toggles radar mode off/air/ground/ils

escape accesses menu

Views:
---------

F1 toggles int/ext view
F2 toggles padlock view (towards target)
F3 toggles view among planes
F4 toggles view among missiles
F5 toggles map view
numpad +/- distance from plane in external view/zoom in internal
arrows (not numpad) changes view direction
home look up
end look down
PGUP/DN rotate view azimuth
INS/DEL rotate view zenith

Display numbers:
---------

Top row:
-VEL in feet/sec
-MACH vel/speed of sound at plane's altitude
-HT height in ft
-AOA angle of attack in degrees (between plane's velocity and
 orientation in the pitch axis)
-G angular acceleration in pitch plane in g's (1g=9.8 m/s^2)
-FUEL remaining in lbs
-DMG decremented as you take damage

Bottom row:
-THR throttle % 0-100
-RPM engine rpm %
-AB afterburner on
-GEAR landing gear extended
-BRK wheel or air brake on
-FPS the simulation uses real time intervals, its reciprocal is frames/sec.

Radar window:
range automatically zooms for current target
blue dots:missiles
green dots:targetable
red dot:current target

C closure (feet/sec) + means approaching
A target height (k feet)
H target heading (deg)
R target range (nautical miles)

Notes:
---------

-when you get a missile lock tone it means the target is inside the missile's
tracking cone, otherwise the missile (aim9-m) will not be able to pursue target.

-doppler sound frequency shift for nearby sound emitters, when a source approaches you it means you are crossing more wave fronts, so frequency rises, inversely it drops as the source escapes you.

-stereo panning for nearby sound emitters based on how your POV is in space
(i.e. if you launch a missile on the right side of your plane you hear it
mostly from the right headphone if you are looking ahead, but say you are looking
back at your plane, you'll hear it from the left).

-drones at startup will not shoot, because they tend to knock you out of the
air in no time at all... but you can change that from the menu.

-terrain is a square of side 180 nautical miles, (1NM = 6000 ft).

-landing & stopping within 3 miles of the base reloads plane.

Problems:
---------
It is strongly recommended to boot clean, i.e. without emm386.exe.
Do not run under Windows 3.1/95 as the PC timer is reprogrammed.
Also it is best to have a mouse driver loaded.

If the simulation does not start up, edit "sim.cfg" for lower resolution.
accepted values are: 640 400, 640 480, 800 600, 1024 768
and try setting VesaLinear to 0

Closing words:
--------------
I would be pleased to hear your comments, they are welcome.

Please fill in 'register.txt' and mail it if you liked the simulator.

I'm looking for a job as 3d programmer...any employers out there?
Please write if so.
